A TOURNAMENT to mark 50 years of Southampton & District Tyro League football had to be postponed last summer due to lack of support.
But the league, which spawned such talent as Danny Ings, Andrew Surman and Francis Benali, were determined the show would go on.
Thanks to the determined efforts of hard-working officials Tony Witt, Ron Foreman, Clive Risbridger, Kay Risbridger, Dave Chalke and Martin Penfold, the tournament will be staged over the next two weekends with all proceeds going to Benali’s fundraising for Cancer Research UK.
The action will take place at Testlands Hub, Green Lane, Millbrook, starting with the under-11s on Saturday (May 19).
The under-12s will take centre stage on Sunday (May 20), followed by the under-13s on Saturday, May 26 and the under-14s and under-15s on Sunday, May 27.
Kick-off is at 10am on all four days and there will be plenty of family fun, such as a bouncy castle, on site.
