Portsmouth have parted ways with manager Andy Awford this morning.
The League Two club, who sit three tiers below Premier League and European football chasing rivals Saints, parted ways with Awford after a miserable 3-1 defeat on Saturday against Morecambe.
He was told at a meeting at the club's training ground in Hilsea before saying his goodbyes to the players.
Portsmouth are 14th in League Two.
The Fratton Park outfit were going to wait until the club were mathematically out of the play-off race, but have decided to prematurely dismiss the 42-year-old former defender.
Betting website SkyBet has placed former Pompey and Saints manager Harry Redknapp as fourth favourite for the job at 8/1 while ex-Southampton striker James Beattie is fifth at 10/1.
