And to make it even more special, it was when all fears of the Millennium bug were squashed and when we ushered in a new kiloannum.
The heralding of the new millennium saw crowds of revellers pour into Southampton bars and pubs to celebrate the big occasion.

Those who turned out to the city’s watering holes had a night to remember, with fancy dress very much at the fore.
At The Frog and Frigate then-manager Barbara Watkins led the way as punters dressed in costumes ranging from Guns 'n' Roses' Slash to Batman's nemesis Joker.
