The Handmaid’s Tale is returning with its final season and UK fans finally have a release date to look forward to.
Previously, the release date for the US was revealed but now, viewers in the UK don’t have long to wait.
The series is based on Margaret Atwood’s book of the same name which depicts a version of the US called Gilead where women’s reproductive rights have been severely restricted.
In the book and series, handmaids, who are fertile women whose function is to bear children, are made to dress in ankle-length red dresses and white bonnets.

The sixth and final season of The Handmaid’s Tale is available to watch now on Hulu in the US but when will it air in the UK?
After nearly three years, UK fans can start watching the new series on Amazon Prime Video from Saturday, May 3, reports The Independent.
The publication added: “Channel 4 is expected to share the broadcast rights once again. While the broadcaster hasn’t confirmed a release date just yet, it’s likely the series will air simultaneously with its Prime Video launch.”

If you haven’t seen the rest of the series, you can catch up on Amazon Prime Video. There are 10 episodes in series one, four and five while there are 13 episodes in series two and three.
The series, which first aired in 2017, has won a total of 15 Emmys.
The novel was shortlisted for the Booker Prize in 1986 and its sequel, The Testaments, won the award in 2019.
