April Fools' Day is upon us once again, as a barrage of jokes, hoaxes, and pranks are created to see if they can catch people out in believing them.

With so many brands using the opportunity to market themselves or their products, it's almost impossible not to see some form of these jokes - at least on social media, anyway.

Some of these are far easier to spot than others, and some do go the extra mile in creating the most outlandish story possible.

While these sorts of campaigns are often from supermarkets, restaurants and food producers, some others get in on the act too.

Here are some of the best jokes/hoaxes we've seen from April Fool's Day 2025.

The best April Fools' Day jokes from 2025

Subway protein shakes

A lot of restaurant chains get involved with supposedly new food items/dishes on April Fool's Day, and Subway is no different.

They've 'released' a 'Footlong Sub-in-a-bottle range' which includes a blended Meatball Marinara Sub, Big Breakwich Sub and the Classic B.M.T.

A Subway spokesperson said: "We’re so excited to be shaking things up and embracing the rising trend of protein shakes.

"Launching drinkable versions of some of our most iconic and protein-packed Footlong Subs just made sense.

"Now, customers who are short on time, but still craving a delicious protein hit, can fuel up with their favourite Subs – just in a convenient, on-the-go shake form.”

Terry’s launches new Chocolate Mint Toothpaste

Going for a bit of an out there concept, is the chocolate orange maker Terry's who claim to have launched a chocolate mint toothpaste.

It is said to offer the flavour of Terry’s Chocolate Mint in a silky-smooth, enamel-building formula that’s safe to swallow.

Lorène Decam, spokesperson at Terry’s Chocolate said: “Our fans have always dreamed of starting and ending their day with Terry’s Chocolate Mint, and now they can - without upsetting their dentist!”

Pineapple-flavoured eggs coming to supermarkets

Dole Sunshine Company is creating a stir in the supermarket egg game with the launch of pineapple-flavoured eggs.

The eggs are said to boast "the tropical taste of sweet golden pineapple" with a more intense golden-coloured yolk and blue exterior shells.

Dole Packaged Foods Europe’s Head of Innovation April Asinus said: “We know that eggs are often linked with sunshine due to their vibrant coloured yolks and the popular serving suggestion of ‘sunny side up’ but what they lacked was that tropical taste.

"Our experiment has led to an eggs-tatic outcome, not only do chickens get to enjoy a tasty treat, but food fanatics can now Add Some Wow to their favourite eggy dishes by adding Dole’s Tropical Gold Pineapple Flavoured Eggs."

Tim Hortons' Chicken Donut Sandwich

Tim Hortons has launched some new items for April Fool's Day including a Chicken Donut Sandwich and Cheesy Loaded Timbits.

The mixture of sweet and savoury flavours are said to be available from 11.30am on April 1, but there is a catch.

Taking inspiration from their Canadian roots, you can only access the new items if you are nice.

Louise Buet, Head of Marketing at Tim Hortons UK said: “To launch our new menu we wanted to celebrate our famous Canadian kindness, so we’re only making it available to those who share the same values.

"Whilst you need to be nice in order to get your hands on the latest items, some of them are a little bit naughty. Our Timbits® (iconic donut bites) have had a savoury spin, and the Old Fashioned Glazed Donut Chicken Sandwich is an unexpected treat that delivers the perfect balance of savoury and sweet.

"If you want to try the new arrivals then you need to be on your best behaviour!”

Wickes' Karaoke Bathroom

The home improvement retailer Wickes has released a new concept in the Karaoke Bathroom for April Fool's Day.

This includes a "first of its kind" karaoke shower with an integrated screen, waterproof microphone, and speaker system.

The best of the rest
