Coronation Street legend Sue Cleaver has confirmed she has filmed her final scenes after 25 years.

The 61-year-old who plays Eileen Grimshaw announced earlier this year she would be leaving the ITV soap but has now spoken about her “surreal” last day on set.

Sue opened up about her "emotional" departure from Weatherfield on Loose Women on Monday (March 31).

It comes as Jane Moore revealed: "It was a very big day for you on Friday, Sue, wasn't it? 25 years on the cobbles, and you left.”

Sue replied: "Yeah, I did. Friday was my final day on the cobbles, and it was so surreal.”

The ITV programme then aired a clip to viewers at home, which showed Sue being applauded and hugged by co-stars Ryan Thomas, Gareth Pierce and Tony Maudsley, following the filming of her final scenes.

The actress added: “That was it, that was a wrap and that was me saying bye to everybody.

"It was so emotional. It was really emotional."

The Corrie star then explained she had recently been having “intense” dreams as her final day on set arrived.

As reported by The Mirror, Sue said: “It was so weird because I didn't know how I was going to feel but all week I was having really intense dreams of being murdered and a lot of carving knives appearing.

“I looked it up, and knives are about severance, about the end of something... they were all anxiety dreams."

Meanwhile, the I’m a Celebrity star also shared how Antony Cotton, who plays the character of Sean Tully on the cobbles, organised a farewell dinner for her.

She commented: “But I had a lovely time as Antony Cotton arranged a lovely dinner out and it was really difficult because there's so many people there to go out with and I'm not a party girl.

“He'd arranged a private dinner and there was 12 of us and we had a really lovely time and then we finished up filming on Friday.”
