Morrisons has revealed it plans on closing 17 convenience stores as well as a range of on-site services including cafes, pharmacies and meat counters.
These closures are part of a major overhaul of store operations as Morrisons continues to carry out it's transformation plan under boss Rami Baitieh.
Morrisons, on Monday (March 24), announced it plans on closing:
- 52 cafes
- All 18 market kitchens
- 17 convenience stores
- 13 florists
- 35 meat counters
- 35 fish counters
- Four pharmacies
These closures are set to put 365 jobs at risk, although it's said the majority of workers affected are expected to be moved into other roles.
Mr Baitieh said: “The changes we are announcing today are a necessary part of our plans to renew and reinvigorate Morrisons and enable us to focus our investment into the areas that customers really value and that can play a full part in our growth.”
This latest announcement comes just months after Morrisons announced it planned on cutting more than 200 roles with staff in customer experience, employee engagement, recruitment and payroll positions among those most at risk of redundancy.
There are currently 497 Morrisons branches across the UK, serving 11 million customers every week.

The job cuts at Morrisons come as the UK high street braces for more store closures in 2025.
Major retailers including WH Smith, Central Co-op and Homebase have already announced they will be closing stores this year.
Additionally, major banks like Barclays, Lloyds and Halifax will also be closing branches throughout 2025.
