A Coronation Street star has broken his silence after his final scenes aired on ITV1 last night (March 12).

Paddy Bever, who played the role of Max Turner for three years, said exiting the much-loved soap was “amongst the hardest decisions of my life”.

On Wednesday night, Corrie viewers saw David and Shona Platt get a call from Max in prison.

The Weatherfield resident is currently behind bars because he started the fire on the Platts' famous home to try and help David out of his debt. 

As Paddy’s time on the cobbles came to an end (for now), his character Max tearfully said “love you too dad, right, night night,” as he hung up the phone in prison.

The actor has now revealed leaving one of the nation’s favourite streets was a “huge cocktail of emotions” as he had the “most amazing time”.

In a social media post on the official Coronation Street X account, Paddy shared: “Hey, so if you are watching this, it means that you have also watched Max’s exit and therefore you know I am parting ways with the role and the show.

"That comes with a huge cocktail of emotions because I’ve had just the most wonderful time with this role and this show and to be part of something with this magnitude has been madness.

“But yeah I just wanted to say thank you so much to everybody who’s tuned in.”

He added: “To those of you who love Max, to those of you who hate Max, thank you. He’s certainly been very complex and a real privilege to play, and to be part of the Platts family of course, and to be part of such an amazing team for three years has been incredible and you know, very informative years for me.

“It is a very strange feeling that it’s coming to an end and it’s definitely been amongst the hardest decisions of my life because I’ve just had the most amazing time.”

On X, fans shared how much they will miss Paddy as Max on Corrie, while some spoke about their disappointment over his exit.

“Wishing Paddy all the best in the future in his next adventure in his career. Will miss him playing Max on the show,” commented one person.
