Next week's final of ITV's Dancing on Ice could be the show's last episode, amid reports it will be axed.

In previous years, the celebrity competition drew 12 million viewers, but now it's suggested that the show has sunk to its lowest ratings ever.

Hosted by Holly Willoughby and Stephen Mulhern, in 2024 the Sunday night series had its smallest audience ever with 2.9 million for an episode, a drop of 700,000 from the previous low.

The 2025 series launch episode saw just 2.9 million viewers, as BARB  reports that by the fifth episode, viewership dropped to 2.4 million.

According to The Mirror, Dancing on Ice now faces the axe as ITV bosses decided the future of the show.

Reports Dancing on Ice faces axe

Discussing Dancing on Ice, a source told The Mirror: "There are very real fears this is the end of the road for Dancing on Ice.

"It’s had a good run for nearly 20 years and has a very loyal set of viewers who really love it but the sad truth is there’s just not enough of them.

"We need bums on seats but the ratings have dropped to a point where it’s difficult to justify the cost."

Dancing on Ice has a hefty budget, with many of the celebrity contestants earning a reported £6,000,000.

An ITV spokesperson has told The Mirror: "The Dancing on Ice team is fully concentrating on the much-anticipated series finale this coming Sunday and therefore no decision has been made."

The Dancing on Ice final airs on ITV1 at 6.30pm on Sunday, March 9.
