A popular Call the Midwife star who fans say they will “hugely miss” has announced they are leaving the series.
Megan Cusack who plays the role of Nancy Corrigan will be exiting the BBC period drama after four years, which she has said is “bittersweet”.
Since arriving in Poplar, she has experienced it all – from falling in love to getting engaged and most recently taking on a new job.
During the 2024 Christmas special, Call the Midwife viewers saw Conor O’Donnell as Roger Noble became part of Nancy’s exit storyline, with the couple departing for Surrey.

Why Megan Cusack is leaving Call the Midwife
Megan confirmed the news to Radio Times magazine, saying: "I've learnt so much, but I'm at the start of my career and I need to take a leap of faith."
She added: "It's bittersweet, really. I've made lifelong friendships there and I get to take those with me.
"But when I think about not rocking up to set and seeing Tim, who's part of the grips team, with his guitar hanging out of his van and serenading people at half six in the morning… It really has been like a family."
Reacting to Nancy’s departure, one fan said on Reddit: “I will hugely miss Nancy, she's grown to be one of my favourite characters and I love her relationship with Colette and her down to earth, say what she thinks manner.”
Another added: “Not a huge surprise, she's barely been in this series. I just hope they let her have a happy ever after and don't do a Barbara on us."
While the news may not come as a shock to some fans, many have been wondering about Nancy’s absence in recent episodes of the latest series.
However, when asked about the fans' concerns at this year's Radio Times Covers Party, Megan explained: "Yeah, well, she's just a career woman. You know, she's off doing things, she's got a new job, but it doesn't mean you won't get to see her again."
It is currently unconfirmed when or how Nancy’s exit storyline will play out on our TV screens.
