The BBC has confirmed there is "every chance" popular series Boiling Point will return despite reports it has been "shelved" after just one series.

The Boiling Point TV series, which follows on from the 2021 film of the same name, was released in 2023 and stars Stephen Graham and Vinette Robinson.

The four-part BBC series picks up eight months after the movie’s cliffhanger ending which saw irate chef Andy Jones (Graham) collapse from a heart attack.

The BBC series has been well received boasting a perfect 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

But despite its popularity, The Sun reported Boiling Point was set to be shelved after just one series.

A source, speaking to The Sun, said: “It’s not often a drama gets such love from viewers and critics but Boiling Point was such a rarity the team has been left disappointed that there’s no news on a second series.

"The fact is there’s still an appetite for more, it’s just making that happen.

“Boiling Point is on the shelf, so to speak, but if the right story or idea comes along then there’s every chance it could be back on screens one day.”

However, the BBC has confirmed while there are currently no plans, "there's every chance there will be more Boiling Point in some form in the future".

A spokesperson from the BBC added the broadcaster loved working with the Boiling Point team and look forward to collaborating again.
