Several characters are at risk of being axed after ITV bosses confirmed harrowing scenes involving a limo crashing into a frozen lake.

The scenes, which will be aired as part of a flash-forward episode, will take place after Liam asks Aaron for Chas's hand in marriage.

After beating Aaron in a raffle, Kerry turns her winnings into a big girls' night out, forcing the boys to go their own way.

As the special Emmerdale episode jumps in time, viewers will see the groups set off on their own limos with Charity and Caleb taking on the role of drivers.

The vibes in each of the limos are completely different with the girls' one being chaotic and the boys' one being tense with Caleb determined to stay away from his brother.

In two separate instances, the limos swerve off the road with one group crashing into the frozen lake.

According to The Metro, Jonny McPherson, known for playing Liam on the ITV show, said: "Liam plans to propose to Chas but do it in an exciting and romantic manner. He’s heard Take A Vow have organised a valentine raffle, with the prize being a trip in a limousine.

"So Liam decides he's going to buy up about eighty percent of the tickets, just to make sure he's the winner. Sadly, that doesn't turn out to be the case - as Kerry wins.

"So poor Liam is then forced to come up with another plan to ensure he can still go through with proposing in a limo to Chas. So acquires another limo hired from Suzy and hopes his plan is sorted and back on track.

"But then he learns the girls have decided to have an entirely girls night hour in their limo, so Chas is no longer free that evening. He feels a bit defeated so it ends up with Liam suggesting that the lads could all have a night out in the other limousine."
