Noel Fielding presents The Great British Bake Off alongside This Morning’s Alison Hammond but rumours suggesting his departure from the Channel 4 show have been circulating recently.

The rumours began after it was revealed Fielding became ill and was unable to continue filming for a new series of his Apple TV comedy, The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin.

Reports suggested there were concerns about his future on Bake Off with the Daily Mail reporting that an insider at Love Productions, the company that creates the Channel 4 show, shared a statement.

The newspaper said the insider commented: “Everyone at Love Productions was, of course, worried to learn about Noel's ill health, and will do everything they can to support him.

“Nothing is set in stone, but they are preparing for every possible outcome and have plans in place if Noel is unable to continue as host on series 16.”

Fielding co-wrote the Apple TV comedy and stars in it himself but he was forced to pause filming for the second series after he became ill.

The Mail said a spokesperson for Noel commented: “This is a private and confidential matter regarding our client's health.

“We are saddened by the decision to cease production but we cannot make any further comment on this matter.”

The Mail understands that Noel is currently in France recuperating.

A source close to the show is believed to have told The Times: “Noel has said that he can't film any more and so there was no choice but to stop.

“It's not a decision that was taken lightly and they wouldn't have got to this extreme result if every possible solution hadn't been exhausted.

“'People have been very concerned about Noel's wellbeing and given him time to recover but there are also significant repercussions. Some people are furious.”

It’s also thought that some people working on the show might be suing the makers despite reports suggesting that Apple and BigTalk, a production company, are trying to make sure everyone is paid despite the series not being finished.
