With January nearly upon us, globetrotters across the UK will be looking for their next winter getaway.

Rio de Janeiro, where "blazing sunshine" and average temperatures of 33 degrees are the norm, was highlighted by the travel experts.

The Brazilian city, which was named the best place to visit, is said to be a "great option" for travellers wanting to immerse themselves in the culture of the world’s "most vibrant" metropolis.
