Wondering how you can make the best gravy for your Christmas dinner this year ahead of the big festive day? James Martin has got you covered.

The TV chef recently visited Denby Pottery in Derbyshire and revealed a “special” tip when it comes to making the “best".

Ready to impress your family and friends around the dinner table this year?

James Martin shares the best way to make Christmas gravy

James explained in the Denby Pottery’s TikTok video: “Get your sauce ready for Christmas. It’s very easy. It’s very difficult to make gravy out of turkey.

“Best way to do it is go to your supermarket, you see little pouches of stock. Sometimes it’s veal stock, sometimes it’s chicken stock.

“Either way, get a couple pouches of each for about four people, that’s about a litre.

“Take a glass of wine, good knob of butter, about 30/40g of butter, pop it into a pan altogether and boil it for about 10 minutes.”

He added: “As it reduces, the butter will emulsify into the sauce. Take it off the heat, season it up and then pop it in the freezer and it’ll be ready for Christmas Day.

“It’s the best way to do a sauce because if you try and get that stock at Christmas time, it’ll all be sold out because chefs like me buy it and make massive potfuls.”

Many of James' fans were eager to try his sauce recipe, with one commenting underneath the Denby Pottery video: “Amazing, Thankyou I shall be doing that tomorrow.”

Another wrote: “Simple….thanks.”

Someone also hailed James' sauce top tip as “brilliant”.
