The UK's first private airport terminal has opened. Manchester Airport's aether is a self-contained terminal including check-in, security, private parking, and a lounge, from which guests are chauffeured to their flights.
Guests are driven to their planes in either an all-electric BMW i7, a seven-seater BMW X7, or a BMW XM.
It takes luxury travel, usually reserved for private jets, first and business class to all passengers, with prices starting at £90.
Options include:
- 'Express' offers access to the private terminal and to the gate with cabin bags, and is for departures only
- The 'Inclusive with cabin bags' option gives guests access to the full offering at the Private Terminal; including all food and drinks. This can be used for those departing, arriving and even both ways for a return journey.
- ‘Inclusive and checked bags’ includes the full offering and is open to anyone flying with partner airlines including Emirates, British Airways and Virgin Atlantic.
Suzanne Orr, general manager of aether, says: "Our private terminal is a sanctuary, offering a thoughtfully designed, elevated experience away from the hustle and bustle of what you’d usually expect in an airport. We prioritise tranquillity and provide a seamless service to offer our guests an effortless start, or even end to their journey.

“What sets aether apart is its inclusivity. It’s accessible to all passengers, regardless of ticket class, and doesn’t require membership. This democratisation of premium airport services marks a significant shift in the industry, offering a reimagined airport experience to a much broader audience.”
The menu has been designed by Adam Reid, the Manchester-born chef who opened Adam Reid at The French.
Manchester Airport managing director Chris Woodroofe said: “aether will let people really start their holidays in style and offers an elevated experience while also being accessible and open to anyone regardless of what ticket they’ve bought.”
