Shoppers are being warned to expect delays receiving parcels from delivery company Yodel just week's out from Christmas.

The festive season is arguably the busiest time of year when it comes to delivery services, with everyone trying to get all their Christmas shopping sorted.

But those using Yodel are being warned to allow "a little longer" for their parcels to arrive this festive season due to "higher than normal numbers of parcels".

Yodels website reads: "Due to higher than normal numbers of parcels in our network, parcels are taking a little longer to be delivered.

"Please allow a couple of extra days for your delivery and keep tracking your parcel's journey."

Shoppers left fuming after waiting weeks for Yodel deliveries

Angry shoppers have taken to social media to share their frustration at being forced to endure an extended wait for their parcels.

One person, posting on X (formerly Twitter), said: "Good luck anyone whose parcel is with @YodelOnline over the Xmas period.

"Mine has languished in a depot for weeks now. A wait time of an hour on the telephone and live chat doesn’t allow you to type!"

Another angry shopper added: "Serious issues with @yodel - no response via live Webchat for days now and they claim their phone lines are not open when you ring them?!

"My parcel is missing for over a week now and there is not a single way to get a response from them. Anyone else having issues."

A third X user commented: "@YodelOnline you’ve had my parcel 10 days now - when is it going to be out for delivery?"

This person said: "My package is on a weeks holiday at the Yodel resort /depot , but hopefully, it will move soon."

While another shopper waiting for a parcel added: "Absolute madness how I can receive TWO items from China in a week, and yet @YodelOnline have had one in their possession for over a week, and they are in the UK."

Why are Yodel deliveries taking so long?

Yodel said the reason behind the delay in deliveries was due to a "higher than normal numbers of parcels".

How to avoid scams

A spokesperson from the company, speaking to The Sun, has revealed this comes off the back of "record-breaking" volumes dealt with over Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

The Yodel spokesperson said: "Due to record-breaking volumes and a surge in larger parcels over Black Friday week and Cyber Monday, we worked with a small number of clients to adapt collection schedules to maintain smooth operations.

"We would also like to thank our colleagues for their hard work and massive efforts, during the busiest time of the year."
