Innovation Award - Early Childhood and Health Team, Brockenhurst College
Lisa Bell, Head of Curriculum Early Childhood, Health and Higher Education has been at Brockenhurst College for 14 years, and Victoria Hussey is course leader for Early Childhood and has worked at Brockenhurst College for 11 years.
They said: "The best thing about our jobs is seeing our young people achieve academically and personally and making a real difference to their lives through education, preparing them for university or employment in their chosen career for Early Childhood or Health.
"As a team we also set up a conference to support early years professional development, to 90 delegates on subjects including Supporting Children with SEN, Supporting Children’s Emotional Development and Play and Pedagogy.
"The conference is testament to the strong links we have established with employers in the sector and shows dedication to making our ideas work. The conference supported Early Childhood practitioners, primary teachers, lecturers, tutors, teaching assistants and students to develop their knowledge and skills and support ongoing development across Southampton , Hampshire, Dorset, IOW and Wiltshire."
The team also highlighted challenges of working in the sector, "in particular the changing nature of the sector which forces change in approach to meet new legislation and changes to qualifications."
They were nominated for their "pro-active and dedicated approach to teaching and learning."
