HINTON Ampner, the National Trust property near Winchester, transported itself back to the 1950s.
It held a Coronation Day house party throughout the Diamond Jubilee weekend, running from Thursday until yesterday.
Visitors were welcomed by the house team dressed in vintage outfits, and given an official ‘invitation’ to the party on behalf of Hinton Ampner’s 20th century owner, Sir Ralph Dutton.
There was music from six decades ago and coverage of The Queen’s Coronation was broadcast on a wireless in the library.
The theme continued in the beautiful gardens, decked out with trestle tables and bunting.
Hinton Ampner’s tearoom also gave 60 cupcakes away each day, decorated in red, white and blue icing.
