A HAMPSHIRE composer will hear four of his pieces receive their world premiere during Sunday’s Diamond Jubilee river pageant on the Thames.
Jeremy Avis’ arrangements of an old Welsh folk song, an African-inspired celebratory call, Scarborough Fair and a version of The Three Ravens by Thomas Ravenscroft will be played on the Silver Bonito – one of the ten special musical barges.
Mr Avis, from Ringwood, said: “I am really looking forward to seeing the spectacle in London, with the millions of people and the sounds and songs filling the riverbanks.
“As a composer and someone who works with sound I am excited to hear the Thames resound with the echoes of the bells from all of the churches in London, the choirs, and the music along the riverbanks. It will be magnificent.”
