PUPILS’ love of learning has scored one Hampshire school top marks with the Ofsted inspectors.
Bishop’s Waltham Infant School achieved “outstanding” or “good”
marks in every aspect of its latest report by Government inspectors.
The school, in Oak Road, Bishop’s Waltham, was praised for boosting pupils’ attainment levels in recent years and for creating an environment where children are keen to take part and learn.
Inspector Rob Crompton wrote in his report: “Pupils achieve well because of consistently good teaching, through which they develop a love of learning.
“Standards have risen steadily over the last few years and are now above average. Lessons excite pupils as teachers provide imaginative activities that fully engage them. Consequently, pupils develop excellent attitudes to learning and are very keen to participate.”
The inspector praised the school’s pastoral care and stated that pupils always have someone to turn to because “adults know us well”.
He also congratulated the school for the stimulating activities and hands-on approach it takes to learning, which includes lots of visits and visitors.
Mr Crompton only had one criticism about the school, which was that methods used to help pupils achieve high levels in writing are used consistently.
Head teacher Tina Sabine said: “The report is particularly pleasing in that every comment is positive and the inspector has really recognised the special nature of the school and the individual education that we provide.”
Barry Phillips, chairman of the governors, added: “I am very pleased that Ofsted has recognised the hard work of the children, staff and parents resulting in this excellent report.”
