A contemporary Indian restaurant from celebrity chef Chef Jolly is coming to the New Forest this autumn.

Kasi is due to open at Careys Manor Hotel & SenSpa in Brockenhurst at the end of October.

Surjan Singh, the TV personality fondly known as Chef Jolly, has celebrated restaurants all over the world, including aboard Cunard liner Queen Anne, but this will be his first UK destination outside London.

Inspired by Varanasi, one of the world’s oldest living cities, Kasi draws from the cultures and cuisines found along the Ganges, from the Himalayas to the Bay of Bengal, while making the most of the finest local and seasonal ingredients found right on the doorstep in Hampshire and Dorset.

Chef Jolly said: "It will be completely unique. In the past, the UK has been all about Punjabi food, but food from this region hasn't been explored to its full potential.

"The food at Kasi will tell the story of the Ganges through the ingredients, flavours and cooking traditions found along its banks. At the same time, it will be firmly connected to its home in the New Forest, making the most of the exceptional produce available locally.

“Memorable restaurants are built around warmth, generosity and a real sense of place. I am excited to bring those ideas together.

The stylishly refurbished 90 cover restaurant, in the building which previously housed Le Blaireau, will include open-fire cooking and tableside theatre from the team of five chefs, plus al fresco dining.

Alongside a spectacular à la carte menu, Kasi will offer a set thali lunch as well as three- and five-course tasting menus with optional wine and cocktail pairings.

Signature dishes are set to include Hampshire lamb parantha; banana leaf-roasted Rivers Test & Itchen trout with coriander-garlic curry leaf butter; roasted Wessex saddleback pork belly with buttered pao buns; and paneer lotus kofta with sundried mint and fennel.

Guests can also expect traditional tandoori dishes, biryanis, lentils and breads.

Kasi follows on the success of Chef Jolly's The Great Indian in Finsbury Park and other dining projects across the globe including Singapore, Kolkata, Doha and The Maldives.

It will join modern British restaurant, Cambium, and Thai restaurant, Zen Garden at Careys Manor Hotel & SenSpa, open to hotel guests and non-residents for lunch and dinner.
