A busy road in Hythe is set to face a ten week closure for gas works but the start of the disruption has now been postponed.

SGN has confirmed work on Hythe Road will now begin on Monday, September 14.

The works were originally due to start on Monday.

SGN said a full road closure will be required while excavations are open, with the measure being put in place to protect its workforce and members of the public.

A signed diversion route will be provided for motorists during the works.

Light vehicles will only be permitted to use Twiggs Lane as part of the diversion, while a separate signed route will be available for HGVs.

Councillor Patrick Mballa said to expect delays on Main Road, Twiggs Lane and to bus services in the area.

Drivers using the route are advised to follow diversion signs while the work is carried out.
