Drivers in Romsey are being warned as the A3057 Stockbridge Road will close for five weeks.
Hampshire County Council has confirmed the closure will be in place from Monday, July 28, for essential reconstruction work.
The affected stretch runs from Old Salisbury Lane to Timsbury Fishery and is a part of the Romsey Flood Prevention Scheme.
It is understood the initiative aims to tackle winter flooding issues along this section.

Work involves raising the road north of the River Test bridge, which is expected to significantly decrease the frequency and duration of road closures due to flooding.
The council has placed electronic signs along Greatbridge Road and Yokesford Hill to inform motorists of the summer holiday closure.
Stockbridge Road will remain closed to through traffic for the entire duration of the project.
Hampshire County Council has asked for patience from residents and road users during the works.
