Planning chiefs have approved proposals to turn part of a former office building into eight flats.
Gosport Borough Council has supported an application relating to the ground floor of a building at the junction of Stoke Road and Oak Road.
The proposed development comprises six one-bedroom flats and a pair of two-bedroom units.
Planning officers received three letters of objection to the scheme, but the Gosport Society supported the application.
A council report said: "The site is located principally within a commercial area.
"While it is accepted that alternative commercial uses could operate from the adjoining premises, with different operating hours, it is not considered that its operation would result in any significant adverse impacts on the amenity of future occupiers of the property."
The building is located in the Stoke Road Conservation Area.
But the report said the proposed development would not result in any alteration to the property's exterior, adding that the council's conservation team had raised no objection to the proposal.
