A concert playing songs from Jane Austen's personal music collection took place in Southampton.
The early music group Ensemble Hesperi performed the music at the Turner Sims concert hall, at the University of Southampton, on the 1796 Broadwood grand piano, which is from the era Austen lived (1775-1817).
The concert was created and presented by Jeanice Brooks, professor of music at the University of Southampton, and musician and researcher Dr Mary-Jannet Leith, who is part of the Ensemble Hesperi.

"This concert asks how the author and her contemporaries explored lands near and far through music making at home."
Dr Leith added: "It has been thrilling for us to get to know the music collection of Jane Austen and her family, and to bring her musical world to life through the performance of songs and pieces she knew and loved."
The concert took place from July 10 to 12.
