An infant school in Southampton has been branded a pioneer in PE, receiving national recognition for its inclusive physical education lessons.

Woolston Infant School, on Florence Road, was recognised and rewarded by specialist training provider Real PE for its commitment to providing innovative physical education.

The school received a celebration event, new equipment, and resource packs.

Some 174 pupils at the Florence Road school, aged between four and seven, are all taught Real PE's curriculum, which focuses on skills rather than just sport.

This ensures every child achieves their personal best, regardless of their starting point.

"It has an incredibly positive impact on our children and in the classroom."

Mr Arthur added: "We’re grateful for this recognition and for the opportunity to celebrate the incredible achievements of our children.

"We know our whole school community will enjoy these new resources for years to come."
