New Forest residents have showered a gym with praise as plans have been lodged to "regularise" its use and make it permanent.

A retrospective change of use application has been submitted by SKWAT Fitness in Dibden Perlieu following a visit from New Forest District Council.

If approved, the gym will be allowed to stay at the outbuilding it currently uses on Lime Close, which sits directly next to an existing house occupied as a private residence.

Documents filed with the applicant note that the gym operates under a "strictly appointment-only basis" with a maximum of "12 clients per session".

The property's driveway can "comfortably" fit up to "15 family-sized vehicles" according to the plans, "ensuring that clients and residents alike can park without affecting the surrounding streets or neighbouring properties".

On the application's page, residents have shown their love for the new gym.

David Walch said: "As a local resident I really appreciate such a well run facility within walking distance and think that this sort of enterprise should be encouraged."
