Southampton's highest-rated chippy has been hailed as a spot that offers generous portions and food that is "cooked to perfection".

Mike's Fish & Chips, which is located on Queensway, has been highly praised by visitors.

After analysing fish and chip shops in the Southampton area for their Tripadvisor scores (needing a minimum of 50 reviews for inclusion), it ended up being top of the pile.

Mike's Fish & Chips has earned a 4.7/5 score on the review site from 257 ratings, with 208 of those being 'excellent'.

Mike's Fish & Chips is a relatively small establishment that has a limited amount of indoor seating and offers takeaway options.

Its options for fish include cod, haddock and plaice alongside fishcakes and sausages.

One person wrote: "Really tasty Fish and Chips, the best in Southampton. The Cod was cooked to perfection and chips were just right. Good customer service and large portions."

"Go for the haddock, they have cod and plaice too, but the haddock tasted amazing. The chips cost an additional 3-4 pounds but they are home cut and not over cooked."
