A reimagined version of Shakespeare's most famous love story is set to take the stage in Titchfield.

Titchfield Festival Theatre will present a shortened adaptation of Romeo and Juliet at the historic Great Barn in Titchfield from August 18 to August 28.

The production blends Shakespeare’s original language with modern narrative elements to create an accessible and engaging experience for all audiences.

John O’Hanlon, director of the production, said: "The Great Barn has a unique ambience.

"The historical significance of the building lends itself perfectly to performances, particularly with its links to the past and to Shakespeare himself, who was a frequent visitor to Titchfield and to the Abbey."

He believes the adaptation offers a valuable experience for families and students.

John added: "For parents or guardians with young people about to enter secondary school in September or about to study Romeo and Juliet as part of their English or drama curriculum, this is an ideal opportunity."
