Thousands of new residents are expected to arrive across Hampshire over the next decade.

This is according to new population projections from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) for cities including Southampton, Eastleigh, Test Valley, New Forest, Gosport, Fareham, and the Isle of Wight.

The figures, covering mid-2022 to mid-2032, are based on net international migration trends.

Southampton is expected to see the largest increase in the region, with a projected rise of 48,345 people.

Other nearby areas are also set to grow, with Eastleigh projected to increase by 2,142 residents.

Test Valley, New Forest, and the Isle of Wight are forecast to grow by 1,748, 1,347, and 1,734 respectively.

Gosport is set to see an increase of 594, and Fareham 248.

The ONS said: "Projections are not forecasts or predictions and do not take into account what may or may not happen in the future."
