An Airdrie schoolgirl's drawing will be on the front cover of this year's Director of Public Health annual report.

The report, which focuses on the health and wellbeing of children and young people, features artwork from children across Lanarkshire.

The children were asked to draw their perception of health and wellbeing, and the director of public health, along with the editorial team, had the difficult task of picking out winners from more than 400 entries from schools across Lanarkshire.

(Image: Supplied) Abbie, a pupil at Willowbank Secondary School, produced a stand-out drawing that was selected for the front cover of the report.

Earlier this month, she was presented with a front cover winner's trophy.

She was joined by teachers, friends, and family as she received her trophy from NHS Lanarkshire’s director of public health, Professor S Josephine Pravinkumar.

Professor Pravinkumar said: "Abbie’s artwork captured the themes that children think about and why her drawing made the front cover but all the children involved should be proud of their artwork and their contribution.

“I would like to sincerely thank all the children and young people who contributed their views and opinions to this year’s report, particularly the children who provided the artwork which is included in various sections of the report.

"The report explores some of the usual public health themes, through a child health lens.”
