A woman punched a fellow party-goer on a train after an argument over a Facebook status spiralled out of control.
Courtney Swan, 26, of Meyrick Road, Portsmouth, admitted the assault when she appeared at Southampton Magistrates' Court on Monday, June 23.
Varun Chuni, prosecuting, told the court that on November 3, 2024, Swan and the victim, who had a long-standing relationship, had been travelling home from London.
They were travelling home at around 8pm in a group after celebrating Swan's little sister's birthday.
Swan had been in the seats behind the victim, speaking through the gap between the seats in front.
The defendant's cousin had put out a Facebook status update, which turned into an argument in which unpaid debts were brought up.
Swan then attacked the victim with a flurry of blows to the head with her closed fists, before members of the public were able to pull her away.
Later at Eastleigh train station, the victim noticed a lump above her eyebrow, called 101 and went to the hospital.
Following the incident, it took the victim one month before she was able to return to work.
Swan has no previous convictions and has pleaded guilty at the earliest opportunity.
She will next appear at the same court for sentencing once a pre-sentence report has been prepared on August 15.
Swan is released on unconditional bail.
