A care home resident secured a £7,300 win at a care home's race night.

The event at Snowdrop Place Care Home in Southampton saw residents gather for an evening of horse racing fun, complete with play money and cheering crowds.

Sylvia was the night's star, winning the most play money with her betting skills.

She said: "It was absolutely brilliant.

"I thought my winning streak was over as I haven't won bingo in a while, but tonight I just couldn't lose.

"I think I'll 'spend' my winnings on something outrageous – maybe a pretend yacht."

The activity was part of the care home's commitment to providing its residents with engaging and joyful experiences.

Activities coordinator Gemma Moss said: "The energy in the room was fantastic, and everyone was cheering and getting involved.

"It's so important that our residents continue to enjoy meaningful moments and this one was definitely a favourite."

Sylvia is already looking forward to defending her title at the next race night.
