Man arrested for assaulting police officer
A police spokesperson has now said the man arrested was held on suspicion of assaulting an officer.
They said: "The male was detained for a search but became aggressive with officers.
"A 38-year-old man from Southampton was arrested on suspicion of assault by beating of an emergency worker."

A Hampshire police spokesperson said: "The man did not have a knife in his possession and we have not seized any weapons."

We were called at 2.33pm to a report of a man in the Woodmill area who appeared to have a knife in his possession.
Officers have attended and arrested a man.
Several police officers have been sighted at the Southampton park this afternoon.
A number of police vehicles are in the Woodmill Lane car park.
