A Southampton landlady says she is "under siege" after four weeks of having her windows smashed in a series of "targeted" attacks.

Yaz Rodriguez, 57, has been the landlady of The Bricklayers Arms in Millbrook since March last year, and says she has been left "rattled" and unable to sleep due to the repeated incidents.

The first attack happened on May 15 shortly after closing time. CCTV shows two men running up to the pub's windows and throwing bricks before fleeing.

However, this wasn't the last attack. Men returned six more times to smash windows.

Some 25 windows have been smashed, and the most recent attack was on Wednesday, June 18.

Yaz believes one of the men shown in the CCTV footage to be the "main perpetrator" as he appears to always return.

Mum Yaz, who lives in flats attached to the pub with her daughter and niece, said: "It is absolutely ridiculous.

"There have been seven incidents in four weeks. He is getting quite brazen now.

"It is like we are under siege. I am afraid to leave my staff, so I have to stay here all the time.

"I haven't had a day off in four weeks, and I am not sleeping.

"I don't scare easily, but I am a bit rattled, really."

In one attack, the men target Yaz's car, smashing the back window and a left wing mirror. This damage destroyed the vehicle's electronics, totalling it.

Yaz says that despite the frequent attacks and CCTV showing the main assailant's face, police have yet to take action.

"More than anything, I am fuming at the police," added Yaz.

"They say they are looking for him. I have said come sit outside one evening you will find him.

"I feel bad because I know it's not the individual police officer's fault, but our system is totally broken and people who need help aren't getting it, and they wonder why we take things into our own hands, not that I have, but I am thinking about it.

"It is not a nice place to be when you have to think about your own protection. I am just so frustrated now."

A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said: "Officers are continuing to investigate reports of criminal damage at the Bricklayers Arms, Southampton.

"Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and progress our investigation into the incidents."
