A public consultation is to be held by a council over new homes in a green field in Hedge End.

Homes are set to be built on Kings Copse Avenue, next to Tanhouse Lane, with Eastleigh Borough Council inviting residents to give a view on how it should look and feel.

Proposals include a mix of one to four-bedroom homes, new access from Kings Copse Avenue, and paths for walking and cycling.

So far, the council has not confirmed how many homes will be built as part of this development.

This comes after a large new housing development consisting of a mix of homes and flats was recently completed just off nearby Heath House Lane at Alder Avenue.

A consultation event will take place on Wednesday, July 2, at Norman Rodaway Pavilion, Heath House Lane, Hedge End, from 5.15pm to 7.45pm.

Council bosses have said that homes will have a modern design as well as be highly energy efficient.

There will also be plans for new green spaces and the enhancement of nearby natural habitats.

This housing development will aim to relieve the pressure on local services.

A spokesperson for Eastleigh Borough Council said: "Homes are badly needed – and we want to make sure this development works for new and existing residents.

"We know local services are under pressure, and we’ll share how we plan to manage these challenges. Your views will help shape the next steps."

The land has been allocated for residential development in line with Eastleigh Borough Council’s Local Plan, known as Site BO3.

If residents are unable to physically go to the consultation event, they will be able to view the plans and provide feedback online between June 30 and July 11.

The plans have to be taken into further review by the council after the consultation before a more finalised plan is complete.

This comes after the council announced a further 150 new homes would be built as part of the One Horton Heath development.
