Residents have been "strongly" advised to "avoid" a popular recreation ground after a group of travellers set up camp on Wednesday.
After a message was issued by Chandler's Ford Parish Council to tell locals to stay away from Fryern Recreation Ground "until further notice", residents have been told to keep their distance.
A spokesperson for Hampshire police confirmed that the force was aware of the "unauthorised encampment" which arrived shortly before 7pm on Wednesday night.
The spokesperson continued: "Officers are continuing to visit the encampment, engaging with both the travelling and local communities in the process.
"We continue to support our local partners in order to seek a suitable resolution.”
A spokesperson for Chandler's Ford Parish Council said: "Please be advised to avoid Fryern Recreation Ground and the children's playground due to unauthorised vehicle movement linked to an unauthorised encampment in the area.

The recreation ground is described as an "energetic hub for sports and socialising" on the Chandler's Ford Parish Council website.
It boasts a halfpipe skate ramp, a fully enclosed hard-surface basketball court and five-a-side goals.
General maintenance repairs are due to start on the park's skate ramp on Monday and are expected to take five days to complete.
