Young women are being urged to attend cervical screening appointments as part of a new NHS campaign.
The 'Love Your Cervix' campaign, supported by NHS Hampshire and Isle of Wight, launched this month
It aims to increase screening rates among women aged 25 to 29 who are due or overdue their first or second cervical screening.
Dr Charlotte Hutchings, GP and clinical director at NHS Hampshire and Isle of Wight, said: "We want young women to take charge of their health, take up their invitation to attend cervical screening and develop the healthy habit of regular cervical screening for the rest of their lives."
The campaign encourages women to book an appointment with their GP when invited and stresses the importance of screening in preventing cervical cancer.
Dr Hutchings said the test is "safe, simple and effective," and that health practitioners are trained to offer support and reassurance throughout the process.
