The dedicated medical staff from Southampton's hospitals traded their stethoscopes for running shoes and came together for an unforgettable day of fundraising and camaraderie.
Their mission that day on May 3, 1980? To push a bed, quite literally, from the Royal South Hants Hospital all the way to Southampton General Hospital in a spirited sponsored bed push!
Despite the somewhat dreary weather that May day, spirits were anything but dampened. A fantastic turnout of participants, along with enthusiastic crowds of supporters, lined the route to cheer on these fun-loving key workers.
The air was buzzing with excitement and the rhythmic thump of trainers against pavement as the teams, adorned with smiles and determination, propelled their unique "vehicle" through the city streets.
Thankfully, the clouds held back their rain, ensuring a dry race for everyone involved.
