A community festival is set to return for its fourth year.

The We Are Holyrood Creative Community Festival in Southampton will run from July 15 to 20 on the Holyrood estate.

The event, known as the Holyrood Hub, is organised by ZoieLogic Dance Theatre in collaboration with estate residents.

It forms part of a wider programme aimed at embedding inclusive and accessible cultural activities within the community.

"We want to create spaces where everyone feels they belong.

"It’s especially important for those who often miss out or feel left out.

"Yes, dance is what we do, but connection – and helping people live happier, healthier and more creative lives – is why we do it.

"We Are Holyrood brings that to life in a real and powerful way."

The Holyrood estate, home to more than 2,500 residents and established to replace a slum destroyed in World War Two, is one of the most diverse areas in Southampton, with more than 25 languages spoken.

The area also faces significant social and economic challenges, with 32 per cent of young residents living in low-income families.

The festival offers a week of free activities designed to engage and connect residents.

It opens with a party and silent disco and concludes with a carnival procession through the estate on July 20.

Other highlights include guest dance workshops, a dancing litter pick-up competition, and the premiere of a music video featuring young residents.

Sam Connnis, a Holyrood resident and ZoieLogic’s community engagement manager, said: "We Are Holyrood connects new people, brings people together and supports young people and their community to explore their creativity.

"Community cohesion and hyper-local provision plus a sense of pride are at the heart of what we are doing here and I’m proud to be part of something that’s shining a light on Holyrood and all the brilliant people who make it what it is."

The festival is supported by Arts Council England and a range of business partners.

ZoieLogic is encouraging businesses and individuals to support the programme through its Changemaker scheme.
