A logistics firm has prioritised heart health by setting up a programme of cardiovascular screenings for its staff.

Meachers Global Logistics, based in Southampton, teamed up with the charity Heartbeat to provide the on-site health checks.

More than 50 employees took part in the initiative, which included a drop-in session for drivers, to promote preventative healthcare.

The checks carried out by Heartbeat's professionals consisted of a series of five-minute tests to spot early signs of cardiovascular issues.

Some employees also opted for an upgrade to a cholesterol test for a more comprehensive assessment of their cardiovascular risk.

Gary Whittle, operations director at Meachers Global Logistics, said: "We are proud to support initiatives that place employee health and wellbeing at the forefront.

"Partnering with Heartbeat has allowed us to offer our team valuable insights into their heart health and encourage a culture of preventative care."

Jennifer Kenny, fundraising coordinator at Heartbeat, added: "It was a pleasure to work with Meachers Global Logistics and see such strong engagement from their staff.

"These checks are a vital step in raising awareness and helping individuals take control of their heart health before problems arise."

This initiative is part of Meachers Global Logistics' ongoing efforts to create a supportive and health-conscious workplace.
