A housebuilder has donated more than £400,000 to causes.
Barratt David Wilson Homes, with its Southampton division based in Hedge End, has given away a total of £404,985 this financial year to charities, community groups, and other local causes throughout the south coast region.
The housebuilder raised £160,000 from its annual charity dinner alone, which was held at Southampton FC's St Mary's stadium in aid of the Saints Foundation.
Among the organisations in Hampshire to receive support were Southampton's cardiac charity, Heartbeat, and Portsmouth's Home Start - the builder's two nominated charities of the year.
Megan Hamlyn, marketing manager at Barratt David Wilson Homes Southampton division, said: "We’re incredibly proud to have donated such an impressive sum to good causes during our financial year from July 2024 to June 2025.
"I’ve had the pleasure of meeting so many amazing people through the scheme and I’ve loved learning about the projects they dedicate so much hard work to."
Other beneficiaries in the Barratt Southampton patch include Friends of Old Bridge Meadows in West Sussex, which received £5,000, and Bosham Crossfit, which was given £8,000.
The housebuilder has also given more than 500 hours of volunteering to the communities in which they build.
The housebuilder also operates a community fund, donating £1,500 each month to local charities.
Part of the wider Barratt Foundation, the community fund has contributed around £360,000 to more than 275 local projects in a year, alongside donations to national charities.
Shaftesbury Primary School in Dorset was given £5,000 to pay for its annual firework display at the school, and Margaret Green Animal Rescue in Wareham was granted £1,500.
Barratt Redrow is the country’s largest housebuilder, and Barratt David Wilson Homes Southampton division is currently building homes across Hampshire, Dorset, and West Sussex.
The division’s chosen charities for 2025 are Home-Start Portsmouth, a community network that helps families with young children, and Heartbeat, which supports the work of the Wessex Cardiac Unit based at Southampton General Hospital.
Barratt David Wilson Homes is currently building new homes across Hampshire, including Pebble Walk on Hayling Island, Harbour Place in Bedhampton and Forest Walk in Whiteley.
