Bus replacements for South Western Railway services

A spokesperson for South Western Railway said: "To assist you with your journey your ticket will be accepted, at no extra cost to yourself, on the following services:

"First Bus route 2 between Portsmouth Harbour, Portsmouth & Southsea, Hilsea and Cosham

"First Bus route 3 between Fareham, Portchester, Cosham, Hilsea, Fratton, Portsmouth & Southsea and Portsmouth Harbour

"First Bus route 7 between Fratton, Hilsea and Cosham

"First Bus route 8 between Portsmouth Harbour, Portsmouth & Southsea, Hilsea and Cosham

"For further information or onward travel advice please speak to a member of staff or use a station help point.

"If you would prefer to use local buses to continue your journey please check Traveline - South Western Railway tickets are not valid on local buses unless stated above."

Southern said "allow an extra 30 minutes"

A spokesperson for Southern said: "Please allow an extra 30 minutes to travel this afternoon, and check planners and station screens for the latest information.

"After the earlier disruption staff are working to get trains, and crew, back to their advertised timetable. There may still be some alteration, cancellations and delays whilst Southern do this.

"You may have to use alternative transport/operators to continue your journey."

National Rail response as trespassers on the track in Cosham

A National Rail spokesperson said: "Following a trespass incident on the railway in the Cosham area all lines have reopened.

"As service recovers, trains running between Havant and Fareham may still be cancelled, delayed by up to 30 minutes or revised.

"Disruption is expected until 20:00."

Major routes for three train operators are affected.

The trips facing disruption are:

  • Great Western Railway services between Portsmouth Harbour and Bristol Parkway
  • South Western Railway services between Fareham / Portsmouth Harbour and London Waterloo, also between Portsmouth & Southsea and Southampton Central
  • Southern services between Brighton and Southampton Central

Trains disrupted and cancelled by trespassers

The train from Bristol Parkway which was due at 3:11pm is expected to instead arrive at 3:56pm, 45 minutes late, due to trespassers.

Another due from Manchester Piccadilly at 3:45pm is running 12 minutes late.

The train starting at Southampton Central and heading to Brighton at 3:50pm has been cancelled due to trespassers.

The train to Bristol Parkway which is supposed to leave at 4:11pm has been delayed.
