HAMPSHIRE County Council has agreed to look into the feasibility of a bus service between Twyford and Eastleigh after the 61 bus service is withdrawn at the end of August. The first stage is to assess demand and travel patterns and they have produced a survey for distribution to provide them with data. (see button below) Completed surveys will be sent directly to Hampshire County Council. The closing date is June 16. A spokesperson said: "Nothing is guaranteed, but both Twyford and Colden Common Parish Councils are committed to doing what we can to ensure our residents' views and voices are heard. Please help us by filling in the survey honestly with your travel needs. Any potential service will require funding to be secured. Please ask any young people in your household to fill in the survey, especially if they are moving to further education in September, when their travel needs will change." The survey can be found at twyfordhants.org.uk.
Otterbourne parish councillors currently has vacancies for three members. A spokesperson said: "We urgently need more volunteers as it is not sustainable to continue at this level and puts the existence of the parish council itself in jeopardy. Come along to a meeting to see how we work and either contact the parish clerk or fill out the website form for more information. Contact clerk@otterbourne-pc.gov.uk or go to otterbourne-pc.gov.uk."
Twyford Cricket Club have given an update on their plans for replacement cricket training nets at Hunter Park. These nets are proposed to be located in the south area of the park, on the site of the old pavilion, in the area between the football pitch and maintenance sheds. The parish council supports this project and has worked closely with the club in developing their plans over the past two years. The nets will also be available to book for public use. Previous feedback from the community in the Spring of 2023 did not support the original proposed location, adjacent to the tennis courts, for the replacement nets and, therefore, this alternative location takes into account those concerns. A Planning Application, reference SDNP/25/01637/FUL, has been submitted and the application is linked below. Assuming the planning permission is successful, once the new training nets have been constructed and brought into use, the Parish Council intends to remove the old nets. If you have any specific queries regarding the project, then the Cricket Club will be happy to help: please email secretary@twyfordcricketclub.co.uk.
THE Albert Homes site next door to the surgery in Twyford has advised residents that there will be traffic control starting Monday, June 16. This is planned for two weeks but they are hoping to complete it within the first week. This is very likely to cause disruption and delays entering and exiting the Village carpark. Please allow more time for any booked appointments during this time.
A PLANNING committee meeting will take place in Twyford as the parish council looks to have its say on the applications in the area on July 3.
