A £3.4 million plan for Fair Oak village improvements is set to be approved.

The scheme aims to enhance cycling and walking facilities on Mortimers Lane, Winchester Road, and Eastleigh Road.

The changes include the creation of approximately 1.3km of new cycle routes, six continuous footways, upgraded crossings, and two new bus stops.

Signs to reduce vehicle speeds will also be installed.

Mortimers Lane will see improvements between the junctions of Pember's Farm Avenue and Fair Oak Court.

Its footways will be widened on the southern side, and continuous crossings will be provided.

This includes upgrading the crossings on Winchester Road and widening footways on the western side to become a shared-use path for both pedestrians and cyclists.

The project, funded by S106 money following local developments, also aims to improve the walking and cycling links from the Pembers Farm development.

Hampshire County Council members, Fair Oak and Horton Heath Parish Council, Eastleigh Borough Council, and the local bus operator have all been consulted and are in support of the scheme.

The development of the proposed pedestrian and cycle improvements has been subject to community engagement in the early design phase, and feedback has been incorporated into the designs.

Further discussions are being held to establish additional safety improvements on Mortimers Lane, which will take place on June 23.
