Rag ‘n’ Bone Man opened Southampton Summer Sessions 2025 with an electrifying performance in Guildhall Square on Friday night.

A packed audience managed to mercifully avoid the forecasted rain and thunderstorms with a night filled of dance, arm waving, and hit tunes.

Rag ‘n’ Bone Man, who first found global fame in 2017, pulled no punches as his energetic set included the likes of Human, Giant, and Skin, as Guildhall Square was illuminated with flashing lights under the night sky.

Kerr Mercer and Elles Bailey supported the Brit Award winner who was greeted by a sea of cheers as he entered the stage before leaving 90 minutes later to thunderous applause.

Residents of the neighbouring apartments took to their balconies to sample the live music, with concert attendees encompassing all ages, such is the appeal of Rag ‘n’ Bone Man.

Dressed in an all-black attire, the 40-year-old proved to be a tremendous live act with his deep baritone voice.

Popular hits Human and Giant featured in the closing stages of the gig, leaving an imprint in the minds of many.

The concert had something for everyone, with thousands departing the city centre with smiles on their faces, proving there is nothing else quite like the thrill of live music.

Following on from the success of last year’s Summer Sessions, that featured the likes of Tom Jones, Madness, and Nile Rodgers and Chic, Rag ‘n’ Bone Man proved to be the perfect act to begin the second year of music festivities in the city with a bang.

The Stranglers will follow closely in Rag ‘n’ Bone Man’s footsteps at they take to the Summer Sessions stage on Saturday night, with UB40 featuring Ali Campbell closing the weekend.

Craig David, McFly, The Human League, and Train are just some of the upcoming acts who can also be seen as part of the Southampton Summer Sessions this month.
