Travellers have set up camp at a field that separates rows of houses in Millbrook.
Some six caravans have been spotted on a field in-between Mansel Park and Green Park this evening, which borders Kendal Avenue and is popular with dog walkers.
The travellers arrived around 8.15pm, the Echo understands.
The field is opposite Millbrook Christian Centre on Wimpson Lane.

On Southampton City Council's website, it says that it does not investigate unauthorised campsites outside of working hours, which are 8.30am to 5pm on Monday to Friday.
The Echo understands the camp has been set up in the yellow area. (Image: Google Maps) The website says: "Removing an unauthorised encampment requires legal proceedings to obtain a court order. This can take some time to complete.
"In some circumstances where there is crime or disorder, the police may take action. We advise to report instances of antisocial behaviour to the police. You can do this on Hampshire Constabulary website or by calling their non-emergency number, 101."
Hampshire Constabulary have been contacted for more information.
