Plans to convert a former care home have been submitted by a family that includes foster children with complex medical needs.
A previous proposal to turn Avondale Lodge in Hythe Road, Marchwood, into a house in multiple occupation (HMO) was rejected two months ago after sparking 30 objections.
Some of the protesters claimed the scheme could result in "undesirable characters" living in the property.
But most said an HMO would create extra traffic problems, endangering the safety of children going to and from Marchwood Infant School.

Now, a different applicant has submitted plans to turn the building into a single dwelling.
The application says: "The property will become our permanent family home, accommodating our immediate family, which includes our medically complex foster children.
"The proposed [change of use] will result in a significant reduction in traffic and operational intensity."
New Forest District Council has already received almost 20 letters of support for the scheme, including one from Marchwood and Eling member Richard Young.
His letter says: "In addition to providing a home for a local family, this also seeks to provide a home for young foster children with complex medical needs who are cared for by the family.
"I therefore urge the council in the strongest terms to also support this overwhelmingly positive proposal for our local community."

Other people who want to see the proposed conversion go ahead include Gillian Younger, of Jessop Close in Hythe.
"This will be a wonderful addition to the community and perfect use of this property. It will give children with complex needs the chance to live in a loving family home with all the facilities they would need."
Some of the people living in the area have taken to social media to praise the applicants and their plans for the property.
One person posted: "They are amazing, inspirational people. I hope the council sees sense and grants permission."
Proposals to turn Avondale Lodge into an HMO were refused in April after sparking a storm of protest.

One of the objectors, Marchwood resident, Laura Tuffill, said: "HMOs come with a reputation of being let to students and young adults, with noise being a common issue as a result of parties/gatherings and the sheer number of adults coming and going.
"The introduction of an HMO is likely to lead to the area becoming less desirable and will inevitably have a knock-on effect on property value."
The council said the scheme would result in an over-intensive use of the site.
