A Hampshire hotel is set to offer a new groundbreaking facial treatment.

Lime Wood Hotel in the New Forest will be the first in England to offer the GROUND Biome Facial at its Herb House spa, using a newly launched skincare range by Peigin Crowley.

Ms Crowley began her journey in 2020, creating self-care products focused on sleep, stress, and hormone health.

Over time, her range grew to include products for women's health, cancer care, gut health, and lymphatic support.

The launch of the Biome Skincare range in 2025 marked her expansion into skincare.

The range aims to nourish the skin's microbiome, reinforcing its barrier health.

The new GROUND Biome Facial is a 60 or 90-minute treatment designed to support the skin's natural ecosystem.

The facial uses probiotic-rich plant nutrition, lymph-activating, and therapeutic massage techniques to calm inflammation, strengthen the skin barrier, and support skin longevity.

The treatment also includes cooling therapy, which recharges the skin, leaving it balanced, soothed, and deeply hydrated.

This facial treatment also addresses areas where stress, often a cause of gut and skin imbalances, can linger.

This facial treatment joins the existing GROUND Wellness Rituals available at Herb House, such as the Restorative, Grounding, and Cleansing Rituals.

The GROUND Biome Facial is also suitable for pregnant individuals.

The facial treatment offers a range of benefits, including strengthening the skin using pre and probiotics, plant lipids, and phytonutrients.

It also enhances gut health through a castor oil cleanse, heat therapy on the abdomen, and an optional abdominal massage for balance.

The treatment aids in reducing oxidative stress that can impact the skin microbiome and supports lymphatic flow, aiding the body's natural detoxification to maintain skin and gut harmony.

Cold therapy is also used to stimulate circulation and assist in the removal of waste from delicate skin cells.

Prices for the treatment start at £140 for a 60-minute session.

What we thought

We were invited to Lime Wood to test out the new facial.

From the moment you approach Lime Wood's spa, you know that you're in for a top-class experience.

The long drive, through sweeping countryside, with sculptures dotted across the lawns, the top-of-the-range cars parked up, they are all just little tasters for the type of day you're in for.

Lime Wood, arguably one of the best luxury hotels in Hampshire, does not scrimp on quality, and that's also reflected in its spa and its treatments.

After enjoying a healthy and carefully curated breakfast in the spa's cafe, Herb House, I slipped into a robe and relaxed in the waiting area before an army of smartly dressed therapists came to collect their clients, me included.

We were shown to perfectly curated individual rooms before my therapist set you to work on the new facial.

And this was not just a treatment that concentrated on the face. One of the main points of the GROUND wellness rituals is that everything connects.

We do some breathing exercises, and the aromatherapy oils relax me, before the therapist places a warm towel across my abdomen and begins working on my feet.

Over the 90 minutes she worked my feet, hands, arms, abdomen, neck, my scalp and of course - my face.

It was one of the most refreshing and rejuvenating spa treatments I have ever had. It left my skin feeling fabulous and my whole being felt relaxed and refreshed.

I skipped out of Lime Wood with a fresh spring in my step.

This treatment - and a day at Lime Wood's spa - is definitely recommended, I can't think of a better spa experience in the county.
